I've been using a camera and taking photographs for over twenty years. What started as a simple hobby has now turned into some what of an obsession.
Where possible I try to give my work as strong a narrative as I can, making each photograph tell its own story on its own merits and in its own right. Although my work should be able to tell its own individual story I believe that the story good photographs tell when put together in a series is just as important as the stories they are able to tell when viewed individually. While the narrative of the image is important to my work, I try not to make it so overpowering as the viewer cannot interpret it in their own way.
In contrast my photographic work that doesn’t involve models I try to make as bright and vibrant as possible, focusing mainly on working with colour and texture as opposed to light and shadow. I like the image to be a real and as true as possible with regards to subject and the nature of the image. In my non-model related photography I do utilize a good amount of post process manipulation, aiming to enhance the visual experience of the photograph and image it is presenting.
As a published photographer I strive to create the best and most visually striking images that I am able to. I strive to push the boundaries of my work in it’s style and technique as well as it’s execution, constantly improving upon and updating not only the technical skill needed but also the visual prowess required in creating uniquely diverse and an individual interpretations of what we can see in the world around us.
